Mr Bhanwarlal Goyal becomes self employed by starting an asbestos cement drainage pipe firm and factory with his brothers.

Mr Sitaram Goyal joins his father and starts touring around south Indian towns selling AC Pipes.

The Goyal brothers join the business. They receive two wagons containing marble from their uncle which they are able to sell at decent profit. They decide to enter the marble business.

Mr. Sitaram and his younger brother Pavan want to venture into the Italian marble business, but their cousins don't share the same interest.

Mr. Sitaram and his three brothers split from their family business with the goodwill of the organisation, enter the italian marble business. They borrow 2 lakhs from their mother.

GMG gets its first order from Ford India purely on the goodwill of the brothers, their hard work and professional execution. This becomes the bedrock of their business growth.

In 2002, from a single store, they expand to 4 stores in Chennai. They are the first to put up a marble showroom in ECR. They are the first to install an automatic material handling crane in the Indian marble industry.

GMG sets up the first green field Italian marble gangsaw unit from the south in Kishangarh, Rajasthan.

GMG starts an office in Delhi and ventures into North India. The Delhi office becomes the hub for trading in the North, with the Kishangarh Factory functioning at 100% capacity.
